Hi, all --
It is time for SPIRIT DAYS! Here's a breakdown of what we're encouraging
you to wear each day in order to promote the show and do a little cast &
crew bonding. Spirit days are a great opportunity to talk up the show,
because people may ask you why you're wearing what you're wearing, and
that's a great conversation starter!
A couple of ground rules for spirit days: you cannot wear anything that
would not normally be considered school appropriate, and no matter what,
the school dress code overrides our spirit days. For example, if your
costume involves a hat, a teacher may ask you to remove it during class and
you must do so. Also, actors: you cannot use ANY part of your costume for a
spirit day. Once your costume pieces are here, we ask that they remain
untouched with the exception of dress rehearsals and performances. This
keeps your stuff safe and easy to locate for the show.
Spirit Days:
Friday 11/15: First or Favorite GL Theatre Shirt
Celebrate your Hilltop Players spirit by wearing your first or favorite GL
theatre shirt - for some of you, that's this show. Let's get a variety of
Hilltop shirts going to start some dialogue about this upcoming show!
Monday 11/18: Mother Feather Monday
Create your own look to honor Quint's favorite indie rock glam group. "It's
basically these two awesome, strong women that dress up in these crazy
spandex costumes with like this weird bird makeup on and...they're great."
Tuesday 11/19: Twin Tuesday
Find a friend (or two) or scene partner, and plan coordinated or matching
outfits!
Wednesday 11/20: Awareness Wednesday
We want people to be aware that this show opens up a meaningful dialogue on
a lot of serious and relevant topics. Please choose an issue that resonates
with you, and wear as much of that awareness color (clarified below) as you
can. We plan to post a "key" of all the colors in the front of the building
so people can understand the spirit day and get some more information about
the show. Here's the awareness color breakdown: blue = bullying; teal =
anxiety; lime green = mental health; black = mourning or grief; purple =
suicide; pink = sexuality; red = trauma.
Thursday 11/21: Formal Day
Here at GL, we treat opening night like a red carpet affair and dress up!
Ladies, dresses, skirts/dressy pants and shirts are all fine. Gentlemen,
we've seen everything from khakis to collared shirts to tuxedos.
Friday 11/22: Incomplete Life T-Shirt Day--
